The EDP Group is the largest electricity generator in Portugal, the third in the Iberian Peninsula and the fifth largest private group in Brazil.
In Portugal, EDP Produção assumes the management and maintenance of conventional hydro and thermal production assets. Production is the first activity in the electricity sector’s value chain. Once produced, electricity is sold on the market or through long-term bilateral contracts.
EDP has made major investments in the construction of dams and the integration of these projects with local communities — the creation of programs to support entrepreneurship, local economic development, environmental preservation and heritage.
The Quest
EDP Produção needed a new identity to reach the local communities.
A line of communication was needed to reach all people involved in the production process and around power plants while showing concern for environmental and sustainability issues.
The Deed
For the development of EDP Produção's identity, we sought inspiration from the power plant colours and the shape of the basic elements for energy production—gas, wind and water.
In addition to the identity guidelines, we developed several information brochures, one for each dam, as well as other support materials, enabling the communication and keeping the proximity with local communities.
